Wednesday fun...

We're feelin' some Jazz blues...(Get it, Jazz, Blues... :) However our family is still pulling for 'em! Anyway... meanwhile back at the ranch...
  • Tanner made a penny hockey board at school (keeps the knuckles in, or it kinda turns into bloody knuckles). He is also sporting a dashing bright orange striped shirt, and a pair of khakis. Our little brother is growing up!
  • Shorty made some Jazz rhymes at school. My personal favorite was "Kyle while you're Korver, You will never be won over!" and "Carlos Boozer rocks the house (5 claps)."
  • Whitty came home from school today, but was able to spend 3 hours trying to help mom send her personal history.
  • Dad is sporting a new look... a chunk of his upper lip is missing. I guess even after years of practice, some of the most experienced still cut themselves shaving! It looks so painful!
  • Joe and Jamie are going to the Real Salt Lake game... hopefully there will be a few more wins than last season...
  • Dad got a call from Fesenko! The newer Jazz player from Ukraine... toothache... guess I'll be visiting Dad's office soon!

Family history blues

For the past couple of days, all our family has seen has been family history. It's way cool that we are doing this, and once it is done, it will be amazing but for right now, it is just kind of a pain in the butt!
Shortie had a violin Monster Concert. She performed 10 songs that she has been working on for the past year.
Tanner has been sporting a new wardrobe which includes a pair of plaid (yes that's right I said plaid) shorts! The girls at school have been all over him I hear...
Whitty has a severe case for the "tardiness blues." (Yes I might have this problem too, but she is a sophomore, and I was NEVER tardy as a sophomore...) Too bad she has an anal teacher who has deducted her grade major! She was tardy everyday to first for the first 2 weeks of the tri. However she is on a record of not being tardy (umm, I think that means she hasn't been tardy once so far...).
Mom and Dad have been stressing over family history MAJOR! Last night at 1:00 in the morning when I couldn't sleep, I heard the little type of the computer. Sure enough Dad was working, hard and long.

Cheney craziness!

Sundays are days for well... random-ness @ the Cheney home, and funny stories from the weekend:
  • I was able to go to the Jazz game with Dad on Sat. We got home at 12 and they were re-playing the game on TV, so the dork that I am, I sat down, and re-watched the Jazz game, AGAIN... Tanner was asleep on the chair, next to me. He kept hitting me with his hand, so I kept moving it. One time I moved him a little to forcefully, and he sorta opened his eyes, but he was still asleep. "Stop touching me you fart-head!" He said through his groggy slurred, barely recognisable words. I started to laugh so hard, I couldn't breathe. "Stop laughing it's not funny." But trust me, it was! In the morning, he had no recollection of the incident.
  • Dad was asking if us if we can recycle Domino pizza boxes. Whit said, "well, yeah probably because it is "cod-bord" (cod- like a fish, and bord, like a bore, with a little short d at the end...). She sounded just like an old lady from Brooklyn. It was so funny! For the rest of the day, we all referred to cardboard, as "cod-bord" Good times, good times!
  • Shortie and Whitty had another dance comp. Whit took first, first first and third. For her solo, she took third. This was Nationals too! Shortie got first, second, and second.
  • Mom did the flowers for Kristie Soffe's ward meeting, and they looked fabulous as usual!
  • Dad got to go to the Rocket's locker room. He was paged over the intercom in the Energy Solutions Arena, and they talked about him on KJZZ! Too bad he was gettin' nachos and couldn't hear it!
  • T had a soccer game, that turned out pretty ugly... but it was still good none the less. He has also been working on his jump shot on the b-ball hoop.

the rundown...

So lately...
  • Tanner, JP and Dad put up a basketball hoop in the backyard, and I do have to say it looks pretty good!
  • Dad and Joe went to the most depressing Jazz game yesterday (it's because I wasn't there I think).
  • Whit and Dad went shopping to get T some new clothes. Whit got some preppy clothes that actually look really good on him, but of course he hates them all and wants to return them.
  • Shortie and Whitty have yet another dance competition today and tomorrow, good luck girls!
  • Steph had her very last day of school, EVER! Party! Needless to say, she is STOKED!

It's always exciting, or at least busy... you can always count on that! :)

Oh dad...

We were all sittin' in the kitchen just talking when we heard some noises (grunting and some oohs and aahs...). We all turned around to see Dad with his arms stretched above his head. They were straight up in the air, but you could tell it was really stretching his arms. Whit and I started to laugh at him. He said "you know when you get older, this will really stretch you too..." His arms were just in the air... Anyway so Whit told Dad to link his arms behind his back, he did and she lifted both his arms up. "OOOH, AAAAAH!" I thought he was going to die! "Do it again, and harder." So this time I grabbed his arms. He said harder... I lifted his arms up, and the moans that he produced, I had never heard before! Whit and I couldn't but laugh as Dad layed out on the top of the kitchen counter in obvious pain, moaning.
Try Dad's stretch for yourself, lift your arms straight up in the air... Can you feel it? Ahh holding your hands up against gravity, what a workout. :)

Exciting times...

On Saturday...
  • Steph took her final board.
  • Joe and Jamie rode the bike race in the Salt Lake Marathon Saturday morning at 6 am... I know I didn't know Joe knew there was a morning either...
  • Court and Whit had a dance competition in which Court took third in hip hop, 2nd in Company, and 1st in Jazz! Whit took 2nd in Company, 2nd in her solo, and 1st in Jazz. Good job girls!
  • I made banana bread, which if I do say so myself, turned out pretty dang good! PS if you don't have sour milk, skim milk works just as good. :)
  • Mom & Dad have been in Denver for a Dental Convention.
  • Joe came up to the house at dinner, and made a "make shift" dinner, which if I do say so myself turned out pretty dang good... He replied "If only I could have thickened up the sauce a little bit..." To which Whitney and I both added "You could have just added corn starch." "Well sorry... I don't have boobs!" Me-"It's not the boobs, it's the uterus." Joe-"Well I don't have a U-whatever either!" Thanks for clarifying Joe.

Since church doesn't start until 1, we get kind of bored, which allows for our imaginations to run wild... No parents and no older siblings were home, so what were we to do... but play hide-and-go-seek of course! The three girls nominated T to be it (he had to get in the shower because he had a meeting with the Bishop). When we heard the shower turn off, we paged and let Tanner in on our little game. 10 minutes in Mom's and Dad's closet in the dark gets a little boring. Whitney started making sparks by rubbing a towel and Court's robe together, "You're going to catch me on FIRE!" Courtie screamed. "My eyes are so dilated, I can see like everything" Whitty said as she reached for my face but missed... We started to scream T's name over and over, to which he didn't reply. We finally gave in, and walked down the stairs. When T saw us, he asked "Where have you been? I've been looking for you all over!" So the game did work... Nope. Apparently he hadn't heard the page, and was just sittin' around, kind of confused.

JAZZ WON THE ROCKETS! WOO HOO GO JAZZ!

Ouch!

Sad day... so Fantasy B-Ball... Yep you guessed it, Jess won, 16584.64 me, 16550.12. That makes a difference of 34.52 points. In case anyone was wondering, I am not talking to him, or anyone else that traded with him, I'm not saying any names, WHITNEY... Just Kidding!
His Little Engine that could, did... but no worries, next year my F-16 fighter jet is gonna blow his little engine right off the tracks! He'll never even know what hit him!
It is also a sad day because our beloved Jazz lost yesterday (creamed is a better word...). This means no home court and the Lakers... not good things for us.

  • Tanner is growin' up. He came into my room this morning with a bottle of cologne. "How do you use this?" No spray top... I have no idea! He got it though, and looked really sharp, I think there might be a girl... who knows!
  • I didn't have a bomb threat, however Whit had the lights at her school go out. We aren't havin' great luck.
  • Mom had a YW camp meeting today. She stocked the house full of bizarre drinks, shrimp chips and my favorite, milky candies!

CraZy cRazY...

For the normal family, the past 24 hours would be uneventful... lucky for us we are the Cheney's, no ORDINARY family!
  • Dad is shopping for a new laptop. Mom told him that she was watching the Today show, and there was a way to get an extra discount off the computer. Too bad she couldn't remember it, Dad appreciated this. :)
  • Mom went to lunch for Granna's b-day. Lucky for her, some of her siblings were left off the calling list... OOPS.
  • Whitney took a CPT test to get into Math 1010. She passed with flying colors, and then took the test for 1050. She passed that one too, with 99%. Who on earth would have thought!? Whitty the brain... (could catch on).
  • Dad learned how to use powerpoint... and how to load 80 pics onto a DataTraveler. Don't ask how long it took him, the point is he learned... :)
  • Shortie had a baby shower for her teacher.
  • My school went into lock down. Bomb threat. Some Stupid Idiot+ phone call to City Hall+ bomb+ Murray High= School out @ 11:00. No English class, and no Physics test for me (dang it)! YEAH! Thanks Stupid Idiot!

PS HAPPY B-DAY JAMIE! WE LOVE YOU!

Utah Weather... need we say more?

OH snap! I wish we were havin' Lake Powell days (Shauntel's blog :)! Today was full of snow and a mere 34 degrees, in the middle of APRIL! April is supposed to be full of showers, to bring May flowers, not freeze and kill 'em! Utah weather... And we just opened the pool... GREAT...

Cheney moments:
  • I was talking to Joe on my phone, and was looking for my keys so I could leave. I finally found them, but then I couldn't find my phone! It's always when you are in a hurry that you can never find what you need! I was getting really frustrated, when oops... I realised I was talking to Joe on it! A "Whitney" moment is what I call it!

  • Before leaving for the Jazz game, Dad was looking for his coat. He had been missing it for a couple of months now... I mentioned he should check the closet, and lone & behold, there it was! "Uterus's" he replied! (Yep and I got mine from Mom, thanks for noticing dad!)

  • Mom has been working on her family history... some more (and in my opinion she is ready to make it history!).

  • T and Dad have been having major farting problems! I don't know what is up! Especially Dad! It is like a 24/7 job I swear!

Our love for vampires...

Extends much further than anything I ever thought possible! Shauntel tried to tell me, she tried to explain how she had ultimately and completely fallen in love with a vampire, but I didn't believe her. Nope. I still didn't believe her even when she gave me her book to read on the plane ride home (honestly for the first chapters I was all oh... yeah... fine...). However that night, oh yeah I didn't sleep! All I did was eat, sleep, dream Twilight. Once I finished, it was off to Whit. Undoubtedly one of her favorite books (and the only book she has actually read by her self, cover to cover...), we became obsessed. Then it was Mom's turn. Finishing them in literally no time at all! Now it is Shorties turn. That's right even at the young age of 11, she is hooked!
I'm not gonna lie, Twilight scenes and set pics are on YouTube, and I think we have seen all of them (so if you want the scoop on which ones are better, you know who to talk to!). I don't know how to put videos on here, so here is a url for an Entertainment Insider look at the movie...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ld9I8COHieM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzXjWutI0GA&NR=1
Enjoy!
Twilight the movie comes out at Dec. 12 (we will be seeing the midnight showing, ALL of us!). The fourth book comes out in August (I believe!).
PS. Since Steph, Jamie and Shauntel have already married, and Court and Whit are too young... I plan on marrying Edward, sorry ladies (and guys for that matter!)!

Cheney Sunday

So after an amazing Sunday dinner (full of JP and his MANY stories of almost dying on his mission...), it was off to the school to play Fat Bat Baseball! Teams were split: Dad, Steph, T-man and myself while JP, Whit and Court made the second team.
Whit's team won by one run (however I did not show up 'till the last inning, they were down by 6 runs and we brought it back baby!).
After Fat Bat, we played a little capture the flag. Girls against boys. Boys won the first game. Girls won the second game. Boys freaked out that girls won, and said we cheated... POOR SPORTS... so we switched sides. Guess what happened in the third game? Yeap you guessed it, girls WON! Boo Ya! Who's the man, or shall I say WO-man!?

Highlights of the evening (besides girls kickin' major booty!):

  • Dad and his pants. He looked like a little boy, holding his pants up while he ran so they wouldn't fall down. We had some major butt crack comin' from his direction!

  • I caught JP's hit- one strike, then ran to second base where I got Court out, oh yeah double play!

  • Whit hit herself in the inside of her left knee with the heel of her right foot(yeah you read that right!).

  • Tanner and his Christmas tree outfit: a red and white striped shirt, with a bright pair of green b-ball shorts (Whit noticed this...).

  • Whit threw the ball... and whoops there went Whit... right into a ditch!

  • Tanner wore a pair of knee high black socks (remind you of anything... JESS!).

  • Dad took Whit into a head-lock so the boys could get the flag.

Mom started with us, but was drawn back home where she spent the remainder of her night with her personal history... sounds like fun.

PS note on the pic: Steph is hitting the ball off of JP's head, Whit, T and Court are being... well, Whit, T and Court, and I am stealing home plate.

This week @ the Cheney home...

Alright so right along with pic's (no new ones have been taken... so I'll just add old ones for now...) I wanna write some of the funny stories or happenings here...
  • Dad and I have this thing where we send blank txt's to one another... just because :) Love you dad.
  • I was writing an essay when I heard something, I looked behind me and saw Mom, Dad, Whit, Tanner and Court playing jump-rope in the entryway... that's right, MOM was too!
  • To boost my ego, I wrestled Neut, and I am proud to say, he may be bigger than me, but I can still take him!
  • Joe, T and I cleaned out the garage, and parked the white car in it. When Mom and Dad got home from dinner, they asked where the car was and were kinda frantic... I said it was just outside, and then went off on a random rampage into which Dad interjected "I don't think you get it Kim, the car is missing!" Joe and I couldn't hold a straight face at this point.
  • Oh yeah... I almost fell down the stairs at school... I think Shauntel is wearing a little bit on me! :)

I know these are kinda lame, it hasn't been too exciting around here lately, but I promise better ones are sure to come.

The reason for this blog... NOT a whole lot... :)

So I was thinkin' about how obsessed I have gotten with the whole blog thing when I asked myself why on earth I was even doing one! The only one who reads this is... well... ME! So pretty much I am writing something that I will just read right after... yeap that's right. But I have come to a conclusion, or a reason I am doing this (besides the fact that I am crazy...). I will put all the pic's mom and dad take on here. This way our fam can actually see the pic's they take... and it will keep our family connected (even those who live clear out in NOWHERE!) Love you guys lots, and expect pics. :)

On the Cheney's Easter Sunday...

The Cheney's had a major dance off. This was no ordinary dance off either. Joe was our IT guy, and Steph was our camera operator. Jamie, Dad and Tanner were Paula, Simon and Randy respectively. Mom was Ryan Seacrest (with real commercial breaks) and the dancers were Jere, Whit, Court, JP and Kim.
Memorable moments:
Court and the comb in her hat... Jere and his amazing ability to dance... Whit and her fish nets... JP and his "moon walk"... Kim and her "flips" or whatever you wanna call 'em... and Steph and her "beached whale"...
The list could go on forever but you get the picture! :)
We decided this will become a family tradition, so start rehearsing for next year, you'll need your A-Game.

first of what is hopefully many... :)

So like the rest of you, I have gotten a little blogger crazy! I love it, everything about it! We will have to see how long it lasts, but for now it's a good thought...
We are the Cheney's, SURPRISE! There are 8 kids, two amazing parents and three in-laws (how they got stuck with us, I will never know, but we are so lucky to have them!).
We love you guys so much and are excited to start on this exciting new adventure (or whatever you want to call it) with you!
